“Marathon Runners” John Torr and Keith Hutton complete a 30-end singles match.

On Friday September 10^th 2021, John and Keith (pictured) competed in a near record breaking 30 end singles match, in the semi-finals of the Moultrie Cup. The match started immediately after a 20-minute torrential downpour, which saw all four corners of the rink flooded in puddles, which rendered the going very heavy. Despite this, the two battled it out in a tight match, which saw quality bowling right to the very end of what turned out to be a two-and-a-half-hour game. Both players won 11 ends each by a single shot, Keith won 5 ends by two shots, John won three ends by two shots. It was neck and neck throughout, with Keith only edging in front in the 24^th end. At the end of the “normal” 21 ends, John was winning 15-12. The record for a competitive singles match is 32, set in August 2006. *** Report provided by Keith Hutton ***
