Membership types
St Chads has 5 levels of membership, these are described below.
- Full adult member
- Cost, as at 2026 - £125
- Can take part in everything.
- First year free if a new inexperienced bowler, 50% of full fee for first year if bowled previously. At the end of a new member’s first year free period, they will be charged a pro-rata fee for the reminder of the membership period
There are at present 4 levels of discretionary membership. Fees and selection eligibility rules apply as follows: -
- Social member
- Cost , as at 2026 - £25
- Can roll-up a few times to try bowling, get a bit of coaching. If they want to bowl more than a few roll-ups, they have to upgrade to a full member but, presuming they are a new bowler, at no further cost (and no refund).
- Can take part in short-mat
- Can take part in friendlies but not competitive matches or internal social bowling events (e.g. drives, Lynn Seears day).
- Junior member
- Cost - same as social member
- Only available to player under 18, or 21 is in full time education
- Can take part in everything
- Concession member
- Cost - half the full adult member fee
- Cannot be applied for, must be offered by the committee based on personal circumstances e.g. only ever plays half a game where permitted, unavailable to play for much of the summer season
- Can take part in short-mat
- Has the same playing rights as a non-concession full member.
- If their circumstances change (improve), the committee can decide to rescind their concession status and ask for a pro-rata payment based on how much of the season is left.
- Life and Honorary member
- Cost - £0
- Bestowed by the club, in recognition of service afforded to the club.
- Same playing rights as a full adult member
