A slight modification needed to be made today for the 2-woods day, we had to run the event with 22 bowlers meaning 7 triples and 2 pairs and that meant the pairs played with 3 bowls each which proved decisive in the end
In a 32C heat, we started with a 'spider' which made £22 for our charity, The Stroke Association, after the winner, Darren Waite, donated his £5, for winning the spider, to the charity.
Thereafter we played for 45 minutes (due to the heat), followed by a 30 minute refreshment break and then another 45 minutes of play. At the end of 14 ends (7 ends in the first half and another 7 ends in the second) Red1 and Black1 teams had the highest scores (42 and 40 respectively) and played a 6-end final against each other. Red1 team was Ray Mansell (skip) and Harshad Chavda, the Black1 team were Ken Alderton (skip), Darren Waite and Cydney Green.
Despite Black1 taking the first end, Red1 proved the stronger team and were victorious after the 6 ends.
